Job Summary
We are seeking a Medical Secretary to join our team! As a Medical Secretary, you will be responsible for greeting patients who come in the door, checking them in, and pulling relevant patient files or obtaining new patient information. You will also answer phone calls and direct them to the appropriate place, mail or fax documentation to the appropriate offices, and maintain excellent medical and correspondence records, as appropriate. The ideal candidate is very organized, has strong customer service and interpersonal skills, and works well independently and within a team. Vallen Allergy and Asthma is a small, private allergy office that prides itself on providing excellent patient care in a small office setting. While small we offer the evaluations, testing and food and drug challenges offered in the large academic center. We are looking for a candidate that appreciates the collegiality of working with a small group in a very busy office setting that sees patients from 6 months and up .
Responsibilities
- Greet patients at the front desk
- Ascertain their needs and get them checked in
- Answer the phone and schedule appointments; critical to have attention to detail for scheduling accuracy
- Maintain comprehensive medical records including demographics and insurance information
- Explain preparations for procedures and testing
Qualifications
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Attention to detail
- Familiarity with basic computer programs, such as the Microsoft Office suite
- Previous office experience desired
Compensation: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Four years later she began practicing Allergy and Immunology at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Boston, followed by a transition to private practice on the South Shore where she stayed for 14 years.
